Fantasy Fest in October….Key West’s Carnival!

Key West’s October Fantasy Fest is something for everyone….mostly adults however:))   It is Key West’s version of Carnival!  It began back in 1978 and has grown over the years into a major event now.  Hundreds of visitors join us for all the debauchery and fun for 10 days.  It has a different theme every year and costumes are encouraged!  Body paint is popular too!   It is a license to just let loose, have fun and celebrate being alive!

The first weekend of Fantasy Fest begins with our Goombay Festival where we celebrate our Bahamian roots.  With a Bahama Village street fair on Friday and Saturday, our talented island chefs and artesians get a chance to showcase delicious foods, great music and island crafts.

Actual Fantasy Fest events then kick off that Monday and last all the way till Sunday.  Parties are held every night with different themes, the Zombie bike ride is a favorite and the two big parades are on Friday and Saturday.

The Walking Parade is on Friday and begins right in front of Alexander’s Guesthouse at 5pm sharp.   Island House also helps to create this fun block party where we both serve up a free drinks for everyone to take to their next stop.

Saturdays BIG Parade makes it’s way down Duval with fabulous floats and tons of beads available to taunt each other into doing all kinds of saucy things!  It is amazing what we can be convinced to do for plastic beads….all in the name of fun of course!
